DHANUSHA, JULY 18

A speed trial run was carried out today on the Janakpur-Jayanagar railway track. The trial and certification is being carried out as part of preparations to run the railway service, said its General Manager Guru Bhattarai.

The speed trial run is being carried out by Diesel Locomotive Rail of India's east-centre railway. Track run is an important process prior to the regular operation of railway service.

"As the speed of the train will be 120 km per hour, safety and security measures on the railway track will be important," he said.

Considering this, a sufficient number of police personnel and employees were mobilised for the test.

A request was also made to the public to maintain distance from the railway track, and not leave cattle astray and stop children from wandering around.

If the trial run is conducted successfully on the Jayanagar-Janakpur track, the Indian railway company will hand over a certificate to the Nepal Railways Company Limited. This will then pave the way to start the railway service after fulfilling other requirements.
