Dhangadi, October 25

Lack of staffers has affected service delivery at various ministries and their subordinate offices in Sudurpaschim Province for a long time now.

There are a total of 2,311 positions at various ministries and their subordinate offices. But, as per data with the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, some 974 posts are still lying vacant in the province.

“Of the total 2,311 posts, only 1,337 posts have been filled. Some 44 per cent of the total posts still remain vacant,” Information Officer at Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers Jagadish Joshi said.

Further, Joshi informed that the vacant posts include 511 posts under  technical category. Physical Infrastructure Development Ministry alone has some 36 vacant posts.

“There are 55 posts at the ministry, but two-thirds of the posts are vacant, which has impacted not only regular work, but also the work related to formulation of necessary procedures, acts and regulations,” said Secretary Indradev Bhatta at the ministry.

On his part, OCMCM Secretary Kishor Kumar Chaudhary said his office had corresponded with the central government regarding the staff crunch.

“We’ve informed them about the staff crunch we’ve been facing even after the staff adjustment. Of the total 52 posts at the office, 12 are still vacant in our office,” Chaudhary informed mediapersons.
