Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet today said the problem of Tarai unrest will be resolved with the constitution amendment proceedings in Parliament and that will pave the way for import management at the border points.

Basnet, who arrived in his home district in the course of the statute publicity campaign, claimed that with endorsement of the constitution amendment bill, which has been tabled in the Parliament, the Tarai agitation will be resolved.

He clarified that the government would not compromise on the issue of provincial boundary under pressure. “The provincial boundary can be changed as per the all-party consensus within three months. There is no option but cooperation and mutual understanding among parties to deal with the existing problems the country is facing,” he reiterated.

Hence, the government is preparing to mobilise the 150 newly inducted officers for the task,” he claimed.
