Statute flaws must be rectified: Yadav
Rajbiraj, August 21
Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav today argued that their agitation would continue until the disparity between the rulers and the ruled ended in the country.
Speaking at a function organised to commemorate the martyrs of Madhes movement in Bhardaha of Saptari today, Yadav argued that the new constitution had curtailed the rights of Madhesis, Dalits, ethnic nationalities and Tharus, among other minorities.
“Hence, our agitation won’t end until those serious flaws in the constitution are rectified. The country will have to witness an unexpected situation if the ruling parties impose the constitution without amendment. We are patiently and honestly waiting for implementation of the agreement with the government. Hence, we wish the government will also act as per the agreement,” he said.
“Peace, stability and mutual harmony will be derailed if the constitution is imposed without necessary amendment. There is no option but to either scrap or rewrite the statute if it is not amended. This constitution was born handicapped,” argued Yadav.
