‘Sting operations needed against graft’

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa today underscored the need of sting operations against corruption that is rampant in the country.
Speaking to district chairpersons of Federation of Photo Journalists in Sauraha, Chitwan, today, Home Minister Thapa urged journalists to unite against the corrupts and contractors as they were hindering prosperity in the country. “I urge journalists to publish the names and photographs of drug smugglers, tax evaders, the corrupt, contractors and anti-nationalists, among others,” said the minister. He was of the opinion that a grant campaign had to be launched to lead the country towards prosperity.
“All the journalists must join hands to unveil stories of black money earners and contractors who leave their projects unfinished. Smugglers, contractors and the corrupts are enemies of development and prosperity of the country. Hence, the government is ready to support you (journalists),” said minister Thapa.
NCP leader and former finance minister Surendra Pandey said nobody could snatch the rights of journalists in democracy and urged them to write against corruption fearlessly. “Mass communication should be for the people and prosperity of the country not in favour or against an individual.
A total of 50 journalists of 32 district chapters of the federation of photo journalists attended the function.
