SIRAHA, DECEMBER 26
Janamat Party cadres torched a truck and many vehicles were vandalised for defying a bandh that they had called in Naraha Rural Municipality, Siraha, today.
The truck was completely destroyed. Although bandh enforcers torched the parked truck at Choharwa, Janamat party cadres said that they were not involved. They said that some other forces were involved and they were trying to defame the party through violent activities.
The party had called Siraha bandh saying that police had arrested the farmers over a fake issue. Life was badly affected due to the bandh. Passengers were stranded since early this morning due to the bandh at Mirchaiya, Lahan and Golbazaar among other places.
Shops and market places, among other businesses, were completely closed.
The protesters demonstrated in various places after burning tyres along the East-West Highway. Police clashed with bandh enforcers time and again while they were trying to open the market. Party cadres have also destroyed dozens of vehicles at Golbazaar, and Mirchaiya, among other places.
Police said that they had arrested the cadres and leaders of the party from Mirchaiya and Golbazaar while they were on the road to enforce the bandh.
