Students of Mahendra Basic School at Thanagaun of Udayapur’s Tapli Rural Municipality have been forced to study in the open after a storm blew away the rooftop of the school on August 7.

Milan Tamang, a school teacher,  said children from grades I to IV had been studying in the open meadow ever since the disaster occurred. “Rooftops that were blown away are yet to be repaired,” said Tamang. He said they could not fix the rooftops for want of budget. “Classes have been closed for the past one month due to rainfall. We have no option other than to stop classes when there is rainfall,” he said.
