More than 200 students of Dhuralsain secondary school in Budhiganga Municipality-1 of Bajura district have fallen ill due to unknown cause(s) in the last five days.
According to health assistant Tara Kumari Khatri, who had visited the school to diagnose the students, symptoms including cough and cold, fever, vomiting, diarrhea and headache have been witnessed among the ailing students.
The shivering fever has generally persisted in students who had it for around two days following which the illness has gradually receded, added Khatri who has done check-up of more than 20 students.
The principal of the school Mahasingh Thapa said that since the last five days more than 200 students have fallen ill. Likewise, Ramananda Padhyay, a teacher, said over 15 students had been failing ill in a day on average. Ten students fell ill today alone, said Padhyay.
It has been learnt that the students who reported their health issues were sent home by the school authorities also leading to a decline in the number of students attending the school with a total attendance of 425 students.
A team of health workers was sent to the school with necessary medications after the issue was reported, informed Deepak Bikram Shah, Mayor of the municipality.
Similarly, Hasta Khadayat, a staffer of the health office of the municipality said that by tomorrow doctors too will be sent to the school for diagnosis of the students.
