Students outcry over violence against women
POKHARA: Amid rising incidents of rape and murder of women in the country of late, school children in Pokhara took to the streets on Thursday to protest violence against women and children.
The students chanted slogans urging government to ensure security of women and urged to put an end to violence.
Moreover, school children not only slammed the government for failing to ensure peace and security but also demanded resignation of government officials.
Likewise, student organisations, civil society and representatives of various political parties expressed strong discontent over rising cases of VAW.
The country has witnessed over 1,400 incidents of violence including rape, murder, physical assault and acid attacks against women in just over five months, media reports quoted government statistics.
