Students shift to cities, schools remain shut

Lamjung, July 18 :

Lack of students has forced the closure of two schools in Manang district and merger of one school.

Citing the lack of students, the Manang District Education Office closed Dawalbesi Buddha Primary School and Jana Kalyan School.

Tatopani Primary School has been merged with Gaurishankar Primary School in Timang. The DEO has not closed Laligurans Primary School, though the school is without students. According to local Koshi Gurung, there were only 10 to 30 houses in the areas where these schools were situated.

As some students went to Gumbas to study Buddhism, while others went to urban areas to study in boarding schools, the schools here were forced to close, he said.
