Students’ body announces protests

Kathmandu, June 5:

The Nepal Student Union (NSU) affiliated to the Nepali Congress today announced more protest programmes against the February 1 Royal takeover. According to a press release issued here today, the union will hold active workers’ meet at 3 pm at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus on Tuesday, take part in a rally called by the eight students union at Maitidevi at 4 pm on Wednesday and organise an interaction with various professional bodies on restoration

of democracy on Thursday. An informal meeting held under the chairmanship of union president Keshav Singh decided to call a ‘decisive movement’ against the government unless it freed all the detained students and leaders. Meanwhile, NSU Min Bhawan Campus unit felicitated union’s leaders and activists who were freed after different periods of detention after the February 1 Royal move. At another programme, deputy speaker of the dissolved House of Representatives Chitra Lekha Yadav said peace is impossible without democracy. She was speaking at a programme organised by the Free Student Union, Tri-Chandra Campus.
