Substandard materials used in community building
Rajbiraj, December 2
It was found that the materials used by Rajbiraj Municipality for construction of a community building at Ward No 7 were substandard.
The municipality had started constructing the community building under the Tarai-Madhes Prosperous programme.
Locals complained that substandard materials were used for construction of the building that constituted a breach of agreement.
A local, Anil Kumar Padiwal, said first class bricks were supposed to be used. “But the construction company has used second and third class bricks, which are very fragile,” he added. Padiwal said the construction company did not even notify of the construction materials in the notice board.
Information Officer Manoj Kumar Yadav of the municipality said Dharma Raj Construction Service Tilathi Koiladi had taken the responsibility of construction of the 27-room building. He added over Rs 11 million was estimated for construction of the building. Yadav said the construction company had agreed to construct the building for Rs 6 million. He added the municipality would deploy technicians to carry out inspection of the work along with the construction materials.
Meanwhile, the construction company said construction materials collected at the site were for other purposes and not for the building.
