DAMAULI, JUNE 29

Financial assistance is being sent for the treatment of a girl who was injured after she was swept away by a river a few weeks ago in Tanahun.

Yubina Thapa, aged four, of Byas Municipality was injured after a splinter of wood rammed into her genital when she was swept away by the Budhikhola two weeks ago. She was admitted to Fishtail Hospital for treatment.

After doctors at the hospital suggested that they should conduct a surgery to extract the splinter from the girl's body, her family had appealed for help citing their poor financial status.

Responding to the appeal for help, many philanthropists and organisations have been sending assistance. While Byas Municipality has provided Rs 50,000, Nepali Congress senior leader Ramchandra Poudel has provided 10,000 rupees. Similarly, Sera Tole Development Organisation has provided Rs 20,000; staffers at Basanta Preliminary School of Byas Municipality provided 12,800 rupees.

Yubina is studying in Nursery at Basanta Preliminary School.

"As we didn't have the resources to treat her (Yubina), we had no option other than to ask people for help, and we're happy that many people are helping us now," said the mother of the child, Maya Thapa, adding she was hopeful that her daughter would be treated with the money sent by people with love.
