Sugar mill inoperational

Rautahat, January 1

Sugarcane farmers have been hit hard after Shreeram Sugar Mill in Garuda Municipality, Rautahat, failed to come into operation.

Lack of proper maintenance is attributed to the failure of the factory to come into operation on time while all sugar mills of other districts have already started operation.

Farmers of the district are compelled to sell sugarcane at cheaper rate as the mill owners paid no attention to the timely maintenance of the local mill.

Meanwhile, the mill operators of other districts are trying to take advantage of the situation and compelling farmers to sell their sugarcane at a very low price.

Chairman of Sugarcane Production Association, Rautahat, Ashok Yadav said the farmers faced the same problems as Shreeram Sugar Mill which was supposed to come in operation from mid-December, but failed to do so.

“For this condition, only mill owners are to be blamed,” he added. Yadav also informed that it would take one more week to bring the mill into operation.
