POKHARA:

Sujeeta Shahi has become the first Nepali woman to complete the solo jump from an altitude of 13000 feet during the four day long Pokhara Skydive, organised by Everest Skydive, in Pokhara.

According to Anuj Pandey, Managing Director at Everest Skydive, after the successful completion of the Everest Skydive 2024, the 17th edition of Pokhara Skydive was safely and well concluded. "The highlight of this year was the first solo jump made by a Nepali woman- Sujeeta Shahi gained this unique distinction with her jump, setting a high bar for adventure enthusiasts in Nepal," Pandey shared.

As customary, this year also consisted of jumps from a B3/B2 AS 350 helicopter of Fishtail Air from an altitude of 13000 feet, expertly flown by Captain Francois Favart, and Andrew, who themselves have been doing this for many years now, according to Pandey.

In addition to the Everest Skydive, Explore Himalaya Travel & Adventure offers the Pokhara Skydive every autumn (November) at the Pame drop zone, 11 km north of the Phewa Lake. The serene valleys and majestic Himalayas of Pokhara form an amazing backdrop for the jumps. With such breathtaking views the annual event has gathered some serious fan following with requests for jumps increasing every year.

The four days event had solo and tandem jumpers from all walks of life. As usual it was backed by the experienced and familiarInternational crew members- Paul Henry Alexandre De Baere, Wendy Smith, Nadezhda Solovyeva, Omar Alhegelan, Fedor Pankov, Peter Svaloe, Jean Philippe, Rikke Nielsen, Anders Hansen, Dylan Pruett and Tyler Steele, according to Pandey.

The event concluded safely with final jumps on the 24th of November with great leadership from the ground by the MD of Everest Skydive, Anuj Pandey, along with logistics management by Bharat Puri and Manoj Thapa, a statement issued by Everest Skydive said.

"The adventure concluded with the assurance that the thrilling adventure would return in the autumn of 2025. The event was supported by Fishtail Air, GoBeepBeep and Aloft Hotels."
