Survey for night-time flights underway at Chandragadhi Airport
BANIYANI, JHAPA: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started a survey for regular night-time flights at the Chandragadhi Airport in Bhadrapur Municipality of Jhapa district.
CAAN started survey for the installation of lights and instruments along the runway for night flights, according to Purna Chudal, Chief of Bhadrapur Airport. The necessary Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) is being prepared for the night time flying, airport chief Chudal added.
Currently aircraft are landing and taking off from 5000 metres at the airport, informed the airport, adding that after the introduction of the IFR technology the flights will be able to do so from 1700 metres.
Airport Chief Chudal added that the airport plans to complete the installation of instruments and signals under the IFR within the next three months and start night time flights from the onset of Dashain festival.
Meanwhile, Buddha Airlines has already carried out a test flight for the night-time flights.
