Survey officer held with bribe money

NEPALGUNJ: A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Contact Office, Kohalpur, arrested a staff of District Survey Office, Banke with bribe money from the office on Wednesday. Mane Lal Yadav, non-gazetted officer of Survey Office, was arrested with Rs 24,000 bribe money at around 11:00am on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, the anti-graft constitutional body had arrested Yadav while he was taking the amount from service seekers at his office for making land documents. Basanta Kunwar, Chief of the CIAA contact office, said Yadav was arrested red-handed while receiving the amount from customers. “Further investigation into the case is under way,” he informed. Yadav’s case is said to be the second of its kind in the office. Earlier, the CIAA had arrested Deben Prasad Kumlahar of the same office with Rs 10,000 bribe money. The anti-corruption body has started the procedure against Kumlahar in the special court.

Murder accused jailed

KHOTANG: District Court, Khotang has ordered Man Kumar Shrestha to be sent to jail for investigation after he was accused of murdering his wife on Wednesday. Man Kumar Shrestha, 29, of Kuvinde VDC was accused of killing his wife Lila Rai, 22, on June 2. DSP Yadav Gautam of District Police Office, Khotang said Shrestha had confessed his crime to the police. He further informed that Lila was beaten indiscriminately on the way to her house after treatment of her sick daughter on the same day. Police said the accused could not control his anger, because she returned home late and thrashed her black and blue. Police had taken Shrestha under control the next day after a case was filed at DPO.
