Suspect held for brutally murdering two workers in under-construction Sarangkot resort
POKHARA: A person, accused of murdering two workers and seriously injuring one with a big hammer at an under-construction Sarangkot resort and spa in Pokhara, has been arrested from Dhankuta recently.
The murder suspect was made public at the Kaski District Police Office on Thursday.
The suspect, 23-year-old Sagar aka Purna Bahadur Limbu of Chatarjorpati Rural Municipality in Dhankuta district, confessed to his crime.
Limbu had brutally hit 19-year-old Nima Sherpa and 37-year-old Anglakpa Sherpa on the heads causing their death, police said.
27-year-old Angdawa Sherpa, who was also hit on his head by a big hammer, is currently undergoing treatment at the Manipal Hospital in the Lake City, according to police.
Limbu, who was at large after the incident, was arrested from his home in Dhankuta on Tuesday by a team of four members led by Sub Inspector Santosh Subedi in coordination with the Dhankuta Police.
Subsequently, police brought the murder suspect on the same day to Pokhara for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, Ashok Singh, Superintendent of Police, Kaski said the suspect was charged with murder. Limbu was presented before the Kaski District Court on Thursday and remanded to custody for further investigation, Singh added.
Five days before the incident, Limbu was accused of stealing a mobile phone by his co-workers; in a fit-of-rage he planned to murder them.
According to plan, he woke up in the middle of the night, took a big hammer and brutally banged on their heads two to three times. The victims were sleeping after dinner on the freezing night, and other workers had gone on holidays to their nearby villages in Kaski district.
After the incident, Limbu had taken their mobile phones and other belongings before fleeing to his village.
Police tracked the suspect with the help of stolen mobile phone and arrested him.
