RAJBIRAJ: At least 150 families living in Gobargadha of Hanumannagar Yoginimai Municipality in Saptari district have been out of physical contact after the swollen Saptakoshi River engulfed the village.

According to Saptari District Police Office Chief SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, police have not been able to reach the location, but have been trying to be in contact.

Most of the houses in Gobargadha are inundated and lack of relief and resettlement is creating a problem to children, said a local, Ram Bharos Yadav.

Half of the risk would decrease if the submerged families could be transferred to a highland near the village immediately, said Yadav.

According to Yadav, locals of Gobargadha are being resentful about apathy of the local administration toward their problems.

Gobargadha is annually submerged in flood water of the Saptakoshi River.

Generally, most of the families of the village migrate to Hanumannagar, Yoginia and Bhardaha of the municipality before the monsoon starts.

But, about 150 families who did not have any other alternative for migration are in the problem currently, said Yadav.

Beside this, many other villages of Hanuman Municipaliy, Saptakoshi Municipality and Rajbiraj Municipality of Saptari district have also been inundated due to the floods in various rivers of the district.
