Syangja District Administration Office has taken measures against the possibility of the spread of the newly detected variant of COV- ID-19, Omicron, in the district.

As the variant of the virus is taking its toll in neighbouring India, the district administration here has geared up preparedness for prevention and containment of the infection.

A meeting of the District COVID Management Committee and the District Administration Office directed the people to follow recommended health protocols against COVID-19. The meeting held yesterday under the chair of Chief District Officer Raju Prasad Poudel urged people not to be part of public gatherings with more than 25 people, and not to organise any kind of fairs.

The meeting also decided to make COVID-19 vaccination card mandatory for receiving public service and entering public places.

More, as per the decision of the meeting, COVID-19 isolation facilities set up during the first and second wave of the pandemic are to be reconditioned, COVID- 19 tests and vaccination coverage is to be escalated, according to CDO Poudel.

The meeting has urged bodies concerned to keep hospitals and health institution-based isolation centre, oxygen plants, oxygen support system and ambulance service on standby in view of the probability of the third wave of the pandemic.
