Tabarej’s kin receive his body

Kin of Shekh Tabarej, who died in police firing during a demonstration in Gaur, the headquarters of Rautahat district two days ago, received his body today a a four-point agreement was reached between the local administration and the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
The agreement was concluded at a security committee meeting at the administration office. They reached agreement on the four-point demand put forward by the UDMF and United Muslim Struggle Alliance yesterday.
After the agreement, Tabarej’s family received his body that had been kept at the district hospital.
The deceased, aged 17, of Tejapakad-8 was a tenth-grader at a local school.
In its four-point demand, UDMF and UMSA had sought martyr’s status for the deceased student, compensation and government job to one of the member of the victim’s family, formation of a judicial probe committee to investigate the murder and action against the police officers involved in the fatal shooting on Sunday.
“We received the body after the meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Narahari Baral pledged to write to the Home Ministry for fulfilment of our demand forf declaring him a martyr and providing compensation.
The DAO pledged to address the other demands at the local level itself,” said the deceased’s grandfather Shekh Nurul Hasan.
Today, hundreds of locals and UDMF cadres were present in a funeral procession in Gaur before carrying out his final rites.
According to National Muslim Struggle Alliance coordinator Haji Jikurulla, his final rites will be carried out as per Muslim tradition at his village tomorrow.
Meanwhile, UDMF cadres and young students burnt tyres and staged demonstrations in different places today after the curfew imposed by the administration was lifted from 6 am.
The administration, however, again imposed indefinite curfew in Gaur town area from 11:00am to prevent the demonstration from turning violent and taking a nasty turn.
Despite the curfew and the heavy presence of securitypersonnel, UDMF cadres today assembled at BP Chowk and chanted slogans against the police administration and the government.
A huge number of security personnel were deputed to the site to prevent any untoward incident.
