Talks can solve Tarai problem: Sujata
Narayangarh, February 15:
Nepali Congress central member and minister Sujata Koirala today said that only dialogue would lead to a solution of the Madhes problem.
Talking to journalists at Bharatpur airport in Chitwan district, Koirala said: “PM Girija Prasad Koirala has assured of fulfilling all Madhesi demands except secession.” Urging the agitating Madhesi groups to come for dialogue, she pointed out that agitation or armed rebellion would not pave the way to a solution. A report from Kathmandu said the NC Parliamentary Committee is busy preparing the name list of the CA poll candidates.
Party leader and member of the committee Binay Dhoj Chand said that the committee headed by party President Girija Prasad Koirala, will finalise the candidates’ name list for both the proportional and direct election system in a day or two. A report from Narayangarh quoted RPP president Pashupati Shumsher Rana as saying today that a round table conference of leaders of the parties in parliament, those of the agitating madhesi parties and civil society was needed to discuss and solve the Madhes problem.
