Tarai lawmakers urge NC to resolve crisis at earliest
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmakers representing the Tarai region have urged the party leadership to resolve problems surfaced in the Tarai-Madhes at the earliest.
During the meeting held at NC Parliamentary Party Office at Singha Durbar today, the lawmakers suggested its party leaders to move ahead through the medium of talks, saying many problems have surfaced due to Tarai-Madhes agitation and ongoing border blockade imposed by India since long.
The NC had sought suggestions from lawmakers representing the Tarai in response to their call for NC-led initiative to settle the Madhes problem.
Stating that no concrete and effective talks were held for last three months, they stressed the need of approving the Constitution Amendment Bill tabled at the Legislature-Parliament immediately.

Earlier on Friday, the NC office-bearers' meeting had decided to take the initiative to resolve the Tarai-Madhes problem.
The Constitution Amendment Bill was tabled at the Parliament on October 7 with an objective of ensuring necessary provisions for proportional and inclusive representation, but it was not approved so far.
NC Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu said that discussions would be held with the parties in and outside of the Parliament, while blaming the ruling parties for not being serious to resolve the problem.
