Tarai-Madhes unrest probe commission submits report

KATHMANDU: The High-level Probe Commission on Tarai-Madhes unrest, led by Girish Chandra Lal, Former Justice of the Apex court has submitted its report to the government on Friday.

The Commission prepared the report taking into account the incidents of killing, vandalism, arson and human rights violations in course of August-2015-agitations that followed the promulgation of the Constitution.

“A 709-page report has been handed over to the government,” Prime Minister Deuba’s Private Secretary Badri Prasad Tiwari informed, “After receiving the report, the Prime Minister thanked the Commission and assured to take necessary steps for implementation.”

Seven police personnel, including Nepal Police Senior Superintendent of Police Laxman Neupane, Chief, Seti Zonal Police Office, Dhangadi, and a two-year-old boy were killed when thousands of agitators loyal to Tharuhat and United Democratic Madhesi Front clashed with police personnel in Tikapur, Kailali, on August, 2015.
