KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 25

The Government has formed a taskforce to carry out a study about losses caused by unseasonal rain-induced flood and inundation on crops across the country.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers here today formed a taskforce led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

Minister Karki, also the spokesperson of the government, said that the taskforce also consisted of secretaries at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, as well as the membersecretary of the National Planning Commission.

The taskforce has been assigned to carry out necessary study into the scale of damages on the crops and submit the report within three days.

Today's meeting also approved the resignation tendered by the chairperson of Nepal Airlines Corporation Sushil Ghimire and decided to appoint Yubaraj Adhikari to the post of executive chairperson of the Corporation.

Similarly, a few other appointments were approved in the meeting such as Dr Rabindra Ghimire as chairperson of the Board of Directors Nepal Re-insurance Company and Madan Pokharel as its member.

Likewise, the ration rate of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been increased by 15 per cent.

A procedure related to cash compensation for impoverished COVID-19 affected families was approved in today's meeting, Minister Karki said.
