Rautahat, October 23:

An unidentified person gunned down a teacher at Prempur Gonahi Village Development Committee in Ratutahat district today.

According to eyewitnesses, a person entered the classroom while Sunil Raya Yadav was taking a class and opened fire on him all of a sudden.

The 35-year-old teacher, also president of the Madhesi Teachers’ Forum Area No 3 and resident of Dharhari VDC, died on the spot. Though the villagers tried to nab the assailant, he managed to flee.

A large number of security personnel have been mobilised to search for the murderer, said Ramesh Thapa, deputy superintendent of police. Until now no one has claimed responsibility for the murder.
