Teacher missing for 16 days

Kavre, August 6:

Maths teacher Kanchhaman Dong (36) has been missing for 16 days.

Dong of Lodsalbensi in Mechhe VDC-3 used to teach in Pokhari Narayansthan VDC-based Narayansthan Higher Secondary School, Kavre district.

Also an assistant treasurer of the Mangaltar-based Nepal Red Cross Sub-branch, Dong had left for Kathmandu on July 28 after attending a Red Cross meeting.

Organising a press conference in Banepa today, neighbours and president of the Red Cross sub-branch Indra Kumar Shrestha urged reporters and rights activists to find the whereabouts of Dong.

A neighbour of the disappeared teacher and Constituent Assembly member Surya Man Dong said Kanchhaman was found to have taken Rs 35,000 from home to buy gold and withdrawn Rs 45,000 from his provident fund.

According to Suryaman Dong, on July 25, the police had told him over phone that they had found Dong’s bag in Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. Surya Man said the bag contained Rs 6,000, medicines and documents.

The teacher had sat for the examination of Masters degree on July 23. Dong has wife, three daughters and two sons.
