Shanta Kumar Yadav, a teacher of the Paschimanchal English Boarding High School, mercilessly beat up three eighth graders in the school yesterday.

Siddhartha Thapa, Sanju Pulami and Siddhartha GC were seriously injured when Yadav thrashed them with a cane. “Other teachers stood as mere spectators when Yadav thrashed us,” Thapa said. Another injured student said Yadav thrashed them saying that he was a Maoist and that nobody could take action against him. Following the incident, guardians gheraoed the school, demanding action against Yadav.

Principal Raj Sarma said he knew about the incident only today. “We have started a process to dismiss him from job,” he added. Yadav did not attend the school today.
