Teacher tries to sell student to traffickers!

Ramechhap, November 30:

Hari Shankar Pandit, a teacher of Pashupati Secondary School in Hiledevi VDC of Ramechhap district, has been charged with trying to sell off his own student to human traffickers.

The school management has filed a complaint aga-inst Pandit in the District Education Office (DEO).

During the Dashain vacation, Pandit had promised the guardians of Sumitra Ghising of a home tuition for her. Instead, he lured Ghising to his home district Dhanusha and thereafter tried to get her across the Raxaul checkpoint on the Indian side. Activists of

the Maiti Nepal spotted Sumita and rescued her. She was later handed over to her guardians.

Principal of the school Ram Kumar Shrestha said the school management decided to take action against Pandit and filed a complaint against him.

Sumita said she got to know that he was trying to sell her only after the Maiti Nepal activists began questioning her.

Assistant CDO Dhirendra Baniya said his office was not aware of the incident.
