SIRAHA, JANUARY 25
Teachers of five community schools have been deprived of salary for the past five months in Lahan Municipality, Siraha, forcing them to resort to agitation.
Agitating teachers picketed Lahan Municipality Office and staged a sit-in demanding salary today. More than 150 teachers, 59 office assistants and 56 assistants of Child Development Centres have not received their salaries for the last five months, said head teacher Narayan Prasad Sah.
Teachers said the teachers of five schools had been deprived of their salaries. "Out of 60 community schools, teachers of five schools and staffers have been deprived of their salaries due to Mayor Munni Sah attempt to seek political revenge," said the agitating teachers. The mayor and other people's representatives face the charges of changing the working procedures by breaching federal education bylaw, transferring assistants of the child development centres unilaterally, and appointing political people as chairmen of the school management committees.
The municipality's acting CAO Prakash Sah pledged to solve the problem shortly. "As soon as CAO Khemnand Bhusal, resumes office, we will solve the problem," said Sah.
