Tear gas shells fired to control the mob in Rautahat district

RAUTAHAT: Police fired at least 11 rounds of tear gas shells to bring the situation under control following a clash between police and locals in the district headquarters Gaur on Saturday.

The incident took place after Dev Nath Sah, a resident of Garuda municipality-1 was arrested on the charge of stealing a motorcycle from in front of the Nepal Electricity Authority office in Gaur.

Soon after the arrest, relatives and villagers started pelting stones at the police personnel and their vehicle, according to Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Keshav Regmi. Police have arrested five people involved in the vandalism.
