Teen languishing in Dharan hospital for two months

Dharan, July 11:

A 16-year-old girl has been putting up at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) for two months.

The Sunsari-based Hasposa Police Post had found the girl in an unconscious state in Charkoshejhadi (a jungle) along the Itahari-Dharan road and taken her to the BPKIHS on April 2.

There were insects over her head, neck and sensitive organs.

“We admitted the girl to the BPKIHS immediately,” the police said. The girl was raped when the police found her. Part of her head was damaged and the BPKIHS had performed plastic surgery on her. The girl is doing well now.

Nobody has come to claim the girl, a source at the BPKIHS said.

The girl identifies herself as Bishnu, besides that nobody knows anything about her.

“We are worried because nobody has come to claim the girl,” BPKIHS director Dr BP Das said.

“The hospital treated her free of cost. We have been forced to feed her,” he said, adding that she has become a burden for the BPKIHS.

“The hospital will be relieved if the girl’s relatives or organisations come to rescue her,” Das said.

“We wrote to several organisations to take the girl from the hospital, but have not got any response yet,” police inspector Badri Bikram Thapa at Dharan Area Police Office said.
