RAUTAHAT: Police in Rautahat arrested a teen on charge of raping a nine-year-old girl.

The girl was reportedly raped on Friday late afternoon while grazing goats by the 17-year-old Shankar Sah (aka Sunil) from Gaur Municipality-10.

The boy had also threatened to murder the alleged victim as she cried in defence and tried to escape from his clutches, according to police.

After five hours of the incident, the girl explained the incident to her mother, who then filed an FIR with police seeking action against the perpetrator.

The girl was sent to the Gaur-based District Hospital for medical tests, informed DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari.

The medical test proved rape as the forced sex had left wounds and scars on private parts of the victim, informed Dr Yashmin Pravin at the District Hospital.

Bhandari said police personnel were able to nab the suspect from the Nepal-India border in Mahuliya of Mathiya area of the district with the help of villagers.

Police said they are interrogating the youth after receiving a remand from the District Court for further investigation.
