PANCHTHAR: A 17-year-old girl has reportedly committed suicide in Yangwarak Rural Municipality of Panchthar district. She was residing at the house of the rural municipality's vice chair.

On Sunday, the teenage girl was found hanging at the residence of the vice-chair. She was studying in Grade 10 in Ganesh Secondary School located in Yangwarak-6.

It has been learnt that the girl, who did not have the protection of any other guardian, had been living at the vice-chair's house for some years.

Information Officer at Panchthar District Police Office, Anil Poudel, informed that an investigation was underway to ascertain the cause behind the apparent suicide.

The body of the deceased was handed over today after postmortem, said police.
