KATHMANDU: A teenager who was swimming in the Karnali River has gone missing after he was swept away by the current of water while taking a selfie in Rajapur of Bardiya district on Wednesday, police said.

Local resident Rupesh Shrestha (16) of Rajapur-11 was swept away while he was taking a selfie.

He was swimming near the bridge that links Rajapur of Bardiya district with Sattighat of Kailali district at around 1:30 pm yesterday, according to Sub Inspector of Police (SI) Bal Bahadur Thapa at Rajapur-based Area Police Office (APO).

Meanwhile, a joint team of security personnel deployed from the APO and Armed Police Force, Rajapur,  are searching for the missing Shrestha, SI Thapa told Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
