Telephone service disrupted in Far-West villages

BAJURA: Some villages of Bajura, Achham and Doti districts in the Far-Western Development Region were disconnected from telephone service for last few days.

Telephone service in the villages went dysfunctional after a telecommunication tower in Siudi of Achham was hit by lightning.

Nepal Telecom Regional Office in Attariya of Kailali district said the lightning accompanied by storm disrupted the telephone service.

Due to the storm, the internet service was also disrupted besides Sky and Namaste mobile phone services.

Local banks were unable to provide services due to the obstruction.

Likewise, day-to-day functions at some government offices including the District Development Committee and the District Treasury Controller Office were also affected as they had launched some online services.

Locals have urged authorities to look into the issue and resume the services at the earliest.

NT Attariya Office's Dammar Bahadur Chand said the dysfunctional tower would be repaired within a couple of days.
