Temporary Bailey-bridge comes into operation at Jayaramghat
KHOTANG: A temporary Bailey bridge constructed over the Dudhkosi River, Jayaramghat, has been brought into operation from Monday.
Jayaramghat lies on the border between Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts.
The bridge was removed in May due to the high water level in the river. With the bridge coming into operation, vehicles can now directly travel from the district headquarters, Diktel, to the capital as well as other districts in the Tarai.
This has eased the transportation of goods and vehicular movement to Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts.
Although a concrete bridge is under construction at the place, it is in limbo due to the negligence of the contractor company. So, the Bailey-bridge has been installed as an alternative.
It will be removed during the monsoon season when the water level in the river rises.
