Temporary police of Province 2 sent off before phase III polls

Temporary police, deployed in Bara district, have returned home after the authorities concerned decided not to extend their tenure for the third phase of civic polls in Province 2.

The third round of local level elections in Province 2 is slated for September 18.

Temporary police personnel, who were appointed to assist in the civic polls, were very sad as they were sent-off before the elections. They were appointed on April 7.

A temporary policewoman Manju Karki said, “The temporary police deployed in Province 2 have to return without getting any experience of local level elections.”

Another temporary police Chanchala Mahato said she was unhappy as she did not get opportunity to serve in the local level elections.

“We were deprived of work for which we were appointed,” she lamented.

The government had extended the

tenure of temporary police after the completion of the first round of local level elections.

Meanwhile, District Police Office, Bara, said temporary police were appointed for 55 days. The  DPO said that temporary police were sent-off with the facility of 90 days along with certificates. As many as 2,174 temporary police, including 244 women police, were appointed in Bara.
