CHITWAN: Tensions ran high after the demise of a woman who gave birth in Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan, today.

The relatives of the woman staged to demonstration claiming that she died due to negligence of the hospital staff.

Bimala Shrestha (34) of 11 Kilo in Gorkha district was admitted to the hospital on February 8 after the labour pain. She gave birth to a baby through scissoring on Friday morning and died on the same night, according to police.

The relatives of the victim said the surgery was performed on Shrestha again on Friday evening after her health turned worse from the afternoon. The patient died due to the excessive bleeding caused by the negligence of doctors, alleged the relatives.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipak Thapa said that police personnel have been mobilised in view of possible agitations.
