Terai Mukti Morcha announces two-month-long stir beginning today

RAJBIRAJ: Arguing that the government did not release their cadres even after four rounds of talks with the government, 'Terai Mukti Morcha' -- an armed outfit active in Terai -- has announced its protest programmes lasting for two months, commencing tomorrow.

Announcing the decision at a press meet here today, the party outfit that had last sat for the talk with the government on November 21, had given a seven-day ultimatum to the government to set free their cadres.

Gajendra Kumar Mandal 'Anuraj', talk team coordinator, said that they were compelled to announce protest programmes since the government was apathetic towards their demands. Informing that their party had completed its five years of armed struggle he added,''We want to resolve the problems through talks. However, the government is torturing our colleagues in custody.''

He added that the government was unwilling to release their cadres even as the government agreed to do so in the talks that was held on November 21. Rajiv Jha' Utkarsha Mukti', central chairman of the party, claimed that the government took their flexibility very lightly.

The party has announced its protest programmes putting forth six-point demands, including the release of their cadres, reinstatement of the deputy-president.
