DHANGADHI: Police on Thursday apprehended Lahuram Chaudhary, President of the Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, Kailali in connection to the Tikapur carnage.

It has been learned that Chaudhary was nabbed for investigation.

Prabhat Chaudhary, former President of the Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, Kailali confirmed the arrest of Lahuram.

Anguished mob on August 24 had killed eight on-duty police personnel including SSP Laxman Neupane and a two-year-old child during a demonstration carried out by local Tharus demanding a separate Tharuwan province.

Police on Wednesday detained Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic central committee member Laxman Tharu for his alleged involvement in the Tikapur massacre.

So far, as many as 16 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident. Police have filed a murder case against 14 of them.
