Tharu’s Maghi festival to be held in Dang

GHORAHI: A two-day province level Maghi festival will be held in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis of Dang district on the occasion of Tharu community’s great festival.

The festival to be held on January 11 and 12 will be organised with the objective of preserving and promoting traditional art and culture of the Tharu community.

Accordingly, the 151-member main organising committee has been formed under the leadership of Bhuvan Chaudhary, the chair of Tharu Kalyankari Sabha in the district.

The Maghauta dance will be the special attraction for this year’s festival along with Tharu delicacies, according to Chaudhary. Traditional art and crafts, and books on Tharu language will also be on display during the festival.
