KATHMANDU, JANUARY 4

The government today put off the decision to give an additional dose of vaccine against coronavirus to the most vulnerable people who have already received two jabs at least three months ago until further notice.

Issuing a notice today, the Ministry of Health and Population said the decision of the health ministry yesterday regarding additional vaccination to vulnerable people had been postponed.

"As it is necessary to provide vaccination to each citizen at the earliest, the national vaccination campaign must be run rapidly. Therefore, after sufficient discussions and preparedness, information on availability of the additional dose of vaccine will be given later," the health ministry said.

"After discussion with health experts, the ministry concluded that it would be better to give vaccine to those who have not taken a single dose rather than to those who have already taken double dose of the vaccine," added the ministry.
