SANKHUWASABHA: Students of Himalaya Higher Secondary School gheraoed the office of Khandbari Municipality, in Sankhuwasabha district today demanding supply of drinking water in the school. Khandbari is facing a severe problem of drinking water for several months.

"The municipality is distributing water only to a handful of persons and neglecting the students," Dinesh Karki, a student leader said.

The students locked up the municipality staffers for three hours while around 1000 students demonstrated in Khandbari bazaar.

The daily activities in the municipality were affected due to the students' protest.

"An agreement has been reached to supply drinking water in the school after we padlocked the staffers of the municipality," Sujata Gurung, another student said. Guardians expressed solidarity to the students' demands.

The protesters unlocked the municipality office after the officials expressed their commitment to regularly supply the drinking water from tomorrow.
