Thori’s merger unacceptable: Leaders

Birgunj, December 26

Newly-elected members of the Parliament from Madhes-based forces today said that merger of Thori, which currently lies in the western region of Province 2, with Province 3 was impossible.

At a function organised in Birgunj, they ruled out any possibility of Thori’s merger with Province 3. Their remarks come a day after CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal pledged to merge Thori with Province 3.

Pradip Yadav, member of Parliament from Parsa Constituency No 1 said, “We are ready for any kind of struggle and sacrifice. But we will not let Thori be merged with Province 3 as Dahal promised.”

He said they would launch protest both in the street and the Parliament if needed.

Another parliamentarian and senior leader of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal Laxman Lal Karna, who won the election from Parsa Constituency No 4, said Thori’s merger was not acceptable to them at any cost given the abundance of forest cover and other natural resources.
