Threatened traders seek safe haven
Sankhuwasabha, Feb 2:
Lack of security has forced three families who were running hotels and sundry business in Guphapokhari bazaar in Nundhaki VDC of Sankhuwasabha district to quit the business and leave for a safer place.
The families of Bam Bahadur Ghising of Shreejung VDC and Birkha Bahadur Limbu of Change VDC in Taplejung and Bal Bahadur Limbu of Mawadin in Sankhuw-asabha left the village after receiving repeated threats, according to locals.
"They were robbed in October. They were left with no option but to shut their businesses and leave the place after receiving threats time and again," Ashish Shakya, chairman of Chainpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said. Nundhaki is a popular tourism spot in the district. The closure of the businesses has also affected tourism in the area, locals said.
