Three arrested for seeking kickbacks

CHITWAN: The District Administration Office (DAO) on Friday arrested two employees of the Land Reform Office, Bharatpur and one legal consultant on charges of seeking kickbacks from a service recipient.

The DAO arrested first class non-gazetted employee, Manoj Niraula, Computer Operator Pradeep Poudel and legal consultant Phanindra Raj Tiwari.

Birkhalal Gurung of Chandibhanjyang has accused Niraula of asking for Rs 6,000 to transfer the ownership of the land in his grandfather's name to his grandmother's name.

Tiwari is accused of seeking Rs 500 in kickback.

The legal consultant is accused of working as a middle man.

A team led by DAO Market Conservation Official, Om Narayan Sharma, and comprising of the representatives from Consumer Rights Protection Forum and the district's police took them under control.

They are currently under detention at the District Police Office (DPO).

SPĀ  Deepak Thapa, said they would be taken to the DAO on Sunday for necessary legal action.
