Janakpurdham, April 7:

A three-cornered by-election race is probable in Dhanusha-5. The NC, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party and UML figure equally strong in the area.

Dr Chandramohan Yadav, son of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, has filed his candidacy from the NC.

The constituency was vacant following Dr Yadav’s election to the presidency. Dr Chandra Mohan said he had filed his candidacy to serve the people through politics. NC acting president

Sushil Koirala and general secretary Bimalendra Nidhiwere involved in the poll campaign.

TMDP candidate Shreekrishna Yadav, who was defeated in last election, has filed his candidacy for the fourth time. The TMDP supporters have been saying that their fight was for an independent Madhes. Chairman Mahantha Thakur, independent CA member Baban Singh, party vice-chairman Brijesh Chandra Lal, among others, joined the campaign.

The NC, UCPN-M, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (MJF),TMDP, among others, have fielded their candidates from the Yadav community considering the majority of voters.

CPN (UML), however, has fielded Raghubir Mahaseth, hoping to get the vote of communities other than Yadav. Mahadev Yadav has been contesting from the UCPN-M.

Siyaram Yadav from MJF has also intensified his campaign.
