BAJURA, MARCH 4
Three Dalit children have been left in the lurch after the death of their father and their mother's second marriage at Budhinanda Municipality in Bajura.
The three children have been identified as Rajesh Damai, 5, Tilak Damai, 3, and two-years-old Amit Damai of the municipality.
The children are helpless with no one to support them. Locals said the children have been begging in the villages.
The children's father Dal Damai died in the course of treatment in India six months ago. Dal's wife, Darpana Damai married another man at Jagannath Rural Municipality around two months ago.
Dal used to run family by ploughing the field of upper caste people in the locality.
Darpana also ran the family by begging in the village after Dal had fallen ill. Darpana did not return home some months after her husband's death. The children have been staying with their aunt, Thuma Damai.
She said it was very difficult to run the family as they had nothing to eat. Her husband runs the family on daily wages.
Thuma wondered how she could feed her sister's children. She also has two daughters. Thuma said that she managed clothes for the children by begging in the villages.
