Three dead as tipper truck plunges 300m in Dhading

DHADING: At least three persons were killed and three others injured after a tipper truck they were travelling on fell below the road in Thakre Rural Municipality-10 of Dhading on Friday evening.

The deceased have been identified as local residents Mahesh Tamang (32), Sabitri Tamang (52) and Som Maya Tamang (60), the Khanikhola-based Area Police Office informed.

Likewise, the injured have been identified as the truck driver Harendra Tamang of Galchhi Rural Municipality-8, and local residents Indra Bahadur Tamang and a four-year-old girl.

The tipper truck (Ba 5 Kha 2418) heading towards Chakmake via Galchhi from Chyuripati in Thakre-10 skidded off the road and plunged about 300 metres at Manedanda, at around 6:30 pm yesterday, according to a witness.

It has been learned that the truck was carrying six persons.

According to Police Inspector Uddhav Pokharel at the APO, two passengers died on the spot while another one breathed his last on the way to a health institution.

A joint team of police deployed from Khanikhola-based APO and Jeevanpur-based APO, and Red Cross workers, with the help of local residents rescued the injured and sent them to National Trauma Centre, Kathmandu in an ambulance, local Bhimsen Lama said.
